The "Poggiolo" route: walk, mountainbike or quad

The Sant'Antimo route: walk, mountainbike or quad

St. Antimo's Abbey is a Benedictine monastery situated near Montalcino. A tributary of the river Orcia, the Starcia, runs near the abbey.

From the centre of the town you must follow the second exit of the round, straight. Go as far as the second crossroads on the left, Villa a Tolli, La Magia, Piombaia direction. The route continue in the dirt road (white road) and you must pass Villa a Tolli, you continue straight. On the left you find the road sign for Sant'Antimo and you go along the path near wood to the Monastery. Good trip!


Bagno Vignoni

The ancient village of Bagno Vignoni is located in the heart of Tuscany, in the wonderful Val d'Orcia Natural Park. Thanks to the Francigena road (which was the main route followed by pilgrims in antiquity who went to Rome), these thermal waters were found and have been used since Roman times. 

Is an hamlet of San Quirico D'Orcia that you can reach in a short time from Montalcino. At the round of Montalcino you must take the fourth exit and continue as far as the following round and you go straight till the cross on the left, direction San Quirico d'Orcia. You must pass San Quirico d'Orcia town and continue in the same street as far as the cross on the rigth in direction of Bagno Vignoni.


Siena and Firenze

Siena is one of the more important and beautiful cities in the world. Is the Capital of the province of Siena.

The historic centre of Siena has been declared by UNESCO a World Heritage Site.

Siena retains a ward-centric culture from medieval times. Each ward (contrada) is represented by an animal or mascot, and has its own boundary and distinct identity. Ward rivalries are most rampant during the annual famous PALIO in the wonderful Piazza Del Campo.

Firenze is a most important Universitary centre and is considered the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance and the cradle of art and architecture.

In auto you must reach these beautiful cities in about 35 minutes for Siena and an hour and a half for Firenze.

At the round of Montalcino you must take the fourth exit and drive along the Cassia street as far as Siena, from here you follow the signs for Superstrada Siena-Firenze direction Firenze and Autostrada A1.
